About the Department

Is teaching in your future? Is it your passion?

The Department of Education at the University of Saint Francis will provide you with ample opportunities to become an active participant in a community of learners who respect one another’s unique talents and share a commitment to teaching and learning.

Education faculty members at USF are eager to partner with you to share rich professional experiences beyond the classroom. As teachers and leaders in public, parochial and private schools, faculty understand that the best approaches to professional preparation are rooted in a balanced blending of theory and practice. Ongoing contact with the region’s teachers and administrators reinforces our commitment to providing you with knowledge and experiences you can readily apply in your own classroom.

In addition to regular coursework, you will have opportunities to participate in many professional development endeavors. You can join Educators in Action, a service-professional student organization that is run by and for teacher candidates, or take part in the Best Practices Showcase, one of the region’s most prominent educational events. You’ll be able to attend on-campus professional workshops and seminars, or see members of the USF community make their mark as presenters at professional events around the state and nation. As a Franciscan institution of higher education, USF also strives to serve the needs of society through a multitude of altruistic activities at the local, national and international levels. At USF, our goal is to help you develop and refine your unique way of expressing a passion for teaching.
